Hi, I’m Veerle De Vriendt!
Photography is my language, light is my brush.
As a photographer, I tell stories through the play of shapes and contrasts.
I challenge the boundaries of photography by finding simplicity within complexity.
The choice between color and black-and-white serves as a visual representation of my emotions and state of mind. It symbolizes the interplay between vivid, warm memories and moments of melancholy, anxiety, detachment… In this way, my emotional connection to the present, past, and future becomes tangible.
The graphic aspect is never far from sight in my visual language: it lingers in every composition, in every play of lines, as a natural extension of who I am. This visual way of thinking has its roots in my graphic design education, but it goes beyond technique or theory. It is a way of seeing, a way of living.
